Time to talk about Thanksgiving Trash

We wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. But first we’ve got to talk about the Thanksgiving trash. According to the EPA, Americans generated approximately 254 million tons of solid waste in 2007 or about 4.62 pounds per person per day.
Thanksgiving is a great time to think about reducing, reusing and recycling. Here are some tips on how to green up your Turkey Day.
Reduce Waste: When you go to the store try to buy packaging that is environmentally friendly or easily recyclable (PETE 1 or HDPE) and buy refillable containers over new packaging whenever possible. We sell foaming hand soap refills at our webstore.
Reuse packaging for decorations and food storage. Old glass jars work great for leftovers. We personally like using our foaming hand soap bottles (labels removed) for a colorful flower vase or art fun with the kids.
If necessary resort to bribery With a large group it’s tempting to use disposable dishware, this year try holding the dessert hostage while you recruit a dish cleaning team.
